First Methodist Church of Opelika has a rich and varied history, a history that parallels the city of Opelika itself. The church was founded in 1837 in the community of Lebanon just outside of Opelika. The church moved to its current location (corner of Avenue A and South 7th Street) in 1879. In 1909, the red-brick church was remodeled into its current neo-classical style. Today, you will find within our walls a true family of faith -- a people intent on sharing God's heart from the heart of Opelika.
Our beliefs are rooted in the historic creeds of the Church (Apostles' & Nicene) and shaped by the Methodist Tradition.
