No matter where you find yourself along your journey of faith, or if you have yet to begin, you are welcome here. Whether it's your first time at church, your first time in a long time, or you attend every week, we want you to feel at home at First Methodist Church.
When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a member of our Welcome Team. They can help direct you wherever you need to go. Before and after services, you'll find people catching up and making new friends. Each Sunday we offer free coffee, tea, water, and snacks. So grab a drink, a bite to eat, and join in the conversation.
Our worship services typically last an hour and include music, prayer, and a sermon. You'll find that our services combine both traditional and modern elements. At time, music will be led by a choir and organ. Other times, music will be led by an ensemble with guitar and piano. We also use liturgy and recite the Lord's Prayer. Once a month, we share in the sacrament of Holy Communion. All are welcome to receive communion. All are invited to taste and see that the Lord is good.
Our church is located in downtown Opelika on the corner of 7th Street & Avenue A. If you are a first time guest or someone with low mobility we invite you to park in the parking lot behind the church (access on 7th Street). When you arrive, a member of our Welcome Team will help you get to where you need to go.
There is so much more to First Methodist Church than Sunday worship. If you want to get connected within our church and grow as a follower of Jesus we encourage you to get involved in two areas outside of Sunday worship. Make one a place to grow and the other a place to serve.
